Located only 30 km from Vientiane, Laos, we offer visitors to Laos a genuine experience of the Lao countryside, people and culture
Situated in the forest on the mighty Nam Ngum river only a 40-minute drive from Vientiane, we offer a true experience of rural Lao life but with most of the comforts of home. We work in harmony with the local people and have an agreement in place, under which we use local labour and local staff and contribute $2 per lodge night to local education and community development. We also try to operate in harmony with the forest and have not cut down a single tree. Guests can either relax and read on their balconies or on our floating restaurant or can participate in any of our activities. These include:
Local village tours (Hmong and Lao Loum ethnic groups)
Lao cooking classes
Traditional ‘Baci’ ceremonies
Floating swimming pool
Fishing from our boats or floating restaurant
Tubing down the Nam Ngum river
Library & Book Exchange
Hmong dance performances
Cycling through local villages
Visit to famous local traditional healer
Riverboat trips along the Nam Ngum river
Traditional Lao massage (gentler than the Thai version)
Wi-Fi Internet access in all rooms
Small Internet cafe
Rice farming experience
All the resort lodges are built of natural, local materials and offer stunning views of the Nam Ngum river. Lodges are moderately-priced and comfortably fitted-out, while not at all disturbing the natural forest environment in which they been sensitively-constructed and located. Family-sized private lodges include en-suite bathrooms, balconies with river views and hot water showers.
